This time of the year finds the financial headlines filled with crystal balls. The analysts are pressured to write about what they expect next year to look like and short add ons about what the rest of this year will bring. Truth is, this was a tough year. The wild swings shook out some great potential grabs and the unconventional patterns threw a monkey wrench into trading systems.

Each time I find myself struggling to get clarity in a tough market, I turn to Keith Harwood. His experience as a market maker helped him spot the tools that find hidden trades in nearly any market. He shared a link to his upcoming webinar on how to exploit the year end madness and I am really looking forward to hearing what he is zeroing in on. (you can sign up here for the presentation)

His previous advice has been extremely helpful. Taking the entire market and being able to walk down to a specific trade makes a headache of a morning go away and creates a path that is easy to walk down again and again. He is great at looking at the broader market and seeing which sectors are lagging as money moves from sector to sector. Without fail, he manages to find that sector that hasn’t seen the full effect of the current shift and is holding some potentially lucrative trades.

That calm approach in the midst of market chaos has helped me spot some great moves in clean energy.

TAN is a great example. While the overall market has bounced down since the start of the year, this ETF has held its ground and offered some great runs. Finding a product to trade that has less risk of falling to new lows and a great potential to keep climbing is a huge win. Then, couple that with the powerful leverage of smart options strategies and the ability to effectively manage the risk and you start to see how valuable Keith’s ideas can be.

Check out his session next Wednesday at 4:30 EST and see what gems he is targeting to put a bow on this wild trading year.

Keep learning and trade wisely,
